I'm voting Peter Gregory Obi of the labour party. You should too

First, let's be clear, whoever wins on Saturday, we have to rally as a nation to agree on some fundamentals; no violence, no destruction of property, no killing whatsoever. Let this be the most peaceful and most orderly transfer of power we ever had. If your candidate lose, they're not new to it. The last time Atiku Abubakar won an election at the top of the ticket, Rema and Ayra Starr were not even born. If Bola Ahmed Tinubu were to lose, He should take it as a consequence of the below par performance of His party at all levels and Peter Obi, I'm sure can take it. We must all agree to hold the elected president accountable and if they fall short of our expectations, vote them out in '27.
Goodluck Jonathan has laid the groundwork for a smooth transition, let us make it a habit!

Having said that, I have a favourite candidate, I have come to a conclusion on who I believe is best suited to lead our country from the leading candidates and He is Peter Obi of the Labour party and I made the decision fairly easily, first, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who I believe is the favorite to win has not demonstrated, in any way, shape or form he deserve to lead at this crucial time. I have nothing good to say about the candidacy of the man. I haven't met him as a person and I am in now way qualified to judge his personality but as a candidate, His flaws are plenty. Tinubu seem to have a god complex and only concerned about being president, he installed Buhari as leader of the party in 2015 and went to sleep, hibernating for his time and he didn't hide those ambitions, he publicly declared "emi lokan" while ridiculing a sitting governor in the same breath. We all have a Bola Tinubu in our lives, that family member, neighbour, co-worker, who think they're better than everyone else and whose opinions must prevail no matter how wrong they are. People who are obsessed with power and bent on ascending high office, regardless of their level of preparedness of physical/mental state must be resisted. The Tinubu who kept mute on critical national issues and excused Buhari's incompetence over the past 8 years, for no other reason than to inherit the president's support base in the north is exactly what we don't need.

Further more, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has so far presented no new ideas, no innovative solution to the problems facing our nation at this time instead hoping to use the old, tired slogans and methods of winning elections. Tinubu is the polar opposite of what we need at this time. It was a mistake electing Muhammadu Buhari, it will be foolishness to replace him with another old, out of touch politician who thinks the presidency is a reward.

For the candidate of the People's Democratic party, PDP, former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, I want to sincerely appeal to whoever made a bet with the man about winning the presidential election to please, forgive him and let it go, for the sake of our country because there is no other reason for the man's insistence on embarrassing himself at the polls other than peer pressure. He is woefully unprepared and uniquely ignorant but has somehow insisted on contesting anyway. Alhaji Atiku has no good advisers around him so here is one; sir, you are not going to win this or any election. Drop out, go back to Dubai and remain there forever. Thank you.

Peter Obi on his part is not necessarily the messiah his supporters have painted him to be, in fact, in a better Nigeria, a candidate like Peter Obi should not be anywhere near top 3 but here we are. Of the bunch, he is the most qualified, hardest working and most importantly, the only one who has demonstrated any meaningful willingness to govern. He seem to have an understanding of the issues, always appear prepared and the only leading candidate that can be held accountable if things go south. Peter Obi is head and shoulders above the other candidates in terms of competence and I make no apologies about that. He has worked off his behind to get here and for the first time in our nation's history, we have a candidate who wouldn't win because some "Nigeria PLC" cabal put him forward.

When you go out to vote on Saturday, there is only one choice and his name is Peter Obi, he will be represented by a logo that carries a father, mother and child, print your thumb in the space in front of that logo because that is the only party that tried to earn your vote and I dare say, they deserve it.

It is a shame we could not have a debate between the candidates, of course, the so called leading candidates who belong in the past are those who chickened out and that is the first indication of a failure.

Whatever happens on election day, the only way our nation lose is if we have a low voter turnout. Come out and bring someone else with you, cast a ballot and wait for the return, our nation must prevail!

  1. Great. My question would be, why is there still no presidential debate?
