Peter Obi Is Winning 2023

Peter Obi is winning 2023, so far. Not the election, of course, just the year and while the rest of the year and frankly, the presidential election is still a mile away, the so called "structureless" candidate and His party have been making major strides that obviously have the "big players" confused and shaking in their boots. First, the former Anambra governor rang in the new year with an emphatic endorsement from the former president Olusegun Obasanjo, through his signature letter and then the labour party candidate secured the blessings of another southern strong man, Chief Edwin Clark. The past few months have been so good, those who were adamant Obi would not win the majority votes of any state are now saying he wouldn't win in more than 5. What a difference one month makes!

Astonishingly, Peter Obi has managed to garner so much support and enthusiasm with no major money bag backing him, or any of the old school politics and politicians but He has travelled the length of the country and indeed, the world, selling his dreams and vision for a better Nigeria. The so called G-5 governors, if the rumours are true, will endorse him soon and even that, if it happens, will take almost nothing away from the footwork Obi and his loyal soldiers have done in the past few months. The Obasanjo endorsement, for example, left the ruling party shaken and you'll know that by their poorly assembled speech and a joke of a rebuttal. Their response was basically to say General Olusegun Arẹmu Matthew Obasanjo was "jealous" and "irrelevant". Basketmouth couldn't come up with a better joke. For a self acclaimed seasoned politician and kingmaker, the campaign of Bola Ahmed Tinubu have been riddled with rookie level mistakes and avoidable errors, it's almost unbelievable to think he use to be the face of opposition in Nigeria. Aging is such a cruel, unavoidable phenomenon.

Peter Obi is no messiah or saint, obviously, but it's hard to try and continue the failing attempt to diminish and ridicule his bid. Over and again, he has made more smart choices than bad ones. Let's face it, no man can fix the many ills that beguile the nation Nigeria, at least not in 4 years. The rot and corruption have eaten so deep into the system, the average Nigerian can't even tell you what a working nation will look like but there's something about electing a challenger, a different face. It energizes the nation and gives a new sense of hope and aspirations to the young, it tells the old guard to sit up or step aside and maybe that's just what Nigeria needs at this time.

Enough of the old, tired way of doing things. It's obviously not working!
